About the Contributor: Ray Erickson

Ray EricksonA graduate of the Voices Institute’s 2008 National Leadership Program, Ray Erickson has been a health care provider since 1986, when he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves at age 17 as a hospital corpsman. He has been a direct care worker in long term care since 1988. He is certified as a CNA, a CMA (certified medication aide), a restorative aide, and an EMT-Basic, and he taught CPR for two years in the late 1990s. Ray is an active member of his facility’s resident behavior management team. He is also an active member of several state and national professional organizations, including Iowa CareGivers Association, Direct Care Alliance, Iowa EMS Association, and the National Association of EMTs. Health care has been his life’s work and passion.
