About the Contributor: Don Krutsinger
A graduate of the 2009 Voices Institute National Leadership Program, Donald Krutsinger has been working with adults with developmental disabilities since 1988. Like most single DSPs, he has found it difficult to live on one full-time position, and has consistently had to work 50 to 60 hours a week to make ends meet. He has worked as a direct support professional in residential and day services programs and as a para in a high school transitional program for 18– to 21-year-olds. He has also been a targeted case manager and a residential home supervisor. He currently lives in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where he works part-time as a personal care assistant while floating as a direct support professional in residential group homes. He has a degree in social work.
