Bob Hudek Joins DCA as Voices Institute Director

I am delighted to announce that Bob Hudek has joined our staff as director of the DCA’s Voices Institute.

Bob is highly experienced at both grassroots organizing and training. He has developed and conducted training programs for unions and citizen organizations on effective organizing, building grass roots power, leadership development and coalition-building.

I met Bob when he was running Citizen Action of Wisconsin, which he revitalized through coalition building and grass roots organizing. He has also served as executive director of the Coalition for Consumer Rights and as national field director of Citizen Action and the Citizen/Labor Energy Coalition.

For the past several years, Bob has also been essential to our Voices Institute, which he was instrumental in developing.

As Voices Institute Director, Bob will work closely with me to manage the development of the DCA’s Voices Institute as an engine for grassroots activism among direct care workers. He will oversee the recruitment, training and nurturing of a growing network of direct care workers, who will become powerful voices in our national and state-based advocacy efforts. He will also manage leadership training, curriculum development, membership development, and technical assistance to the DCA state partners.

Bob will work closely with Voices Institute Coordinator Bridget Siljander, who met him when she attended the 2008 Voices Institute National Leadership Program. “It has been a privilege to work with Bob, someone who has supported me as a Voices Institute participant and in my current role with the DCA,” she says. “I look forward to working more closely with him to continue to expand the Voices Institute.”
